Travel Ipswich

Honest guides, town by town.

About Travel Ipswich

Travel Ipswich is the independent UK editorial travel guide to Ipswich and the Suffolk day-trip radius. It covers Ipswich as a real town worth writing about (Waterfront, Christchurch Mansion, Ancient House), extends across the 30-mile Suffolk radius (Aldeburgh, Southwold, Woodbridge, Sutton Hoo, Constable Country, Bury St Edmunds, Lavenham), and hands off to Booking.com, Sykes Cottages and GetYourGuide transparently when the reader is ready to book.

Our story

The travelipswich.co.uk domain first went live in 2012 as a Suffolk County Council transport project, sat dormant for a decade, and was reactivated in 2026 as an editorial travel site. We inherited residual backlinks from Wikipedia, the BBC, ipswich.gov.uk and suffolk.gov.uk; we are rebuilding the site to earn them a second time as travel editorial rather than council-transport documentation.

Editorial policy

Every hotel, cottage and attraction covered here has been either visited on-site by the editorial team or reviewed against verified Booking.com and Tripadvisor aggregates. Every review carries a “what could be better” section. Every roundup names alternatives at the same price band. No paid rankings. No sponsored posts in year one. Full detail on how we recommend places.

How we make money

Affiliate revenue only. Booking.com Partner Program on hotel widgets, Sykes Cottages via Awin for self-catering, GetYourGuide for attraction tickets, Hotels.com and Expedia via EGAP as fallback comparison. No display advertising. Affiliate links are disclosed above every widget. Editorial independence is maintained. Full detail on the affiliate disclosure page.
